Student Assistant (Up to 8 Positions)
Hours of Work: 

5 - 15 hours per week (Schedule is flexible)

$11.81 per hour (vacation pay included)

September 2017 – August 2018

The Writing Centre is looking for Student Assistants to work approximately 5 to 15 hours per week during the 2017-2018 school year, with time off during exam periods. Some weekend and evening hours may be required. We are interested in students with strong writing skills and a passion for writing, and also students from a range of disciplines, including business and the sciences. Experience with second language learners is an asset.


Writing Centre Student Assistants primarily work one-on-one with undergraduate students to help them become more proficient writers and critical thinkers.  Other duties may include:
• Class visits to promote the Writing Centre
• Small administrative tasks and other writing projects
• Assistants work closely with the Writing Centre Coordinator (to whom they report), and are required to attend regularly scheduled training sessions and staff meetings throughout the year.


• Preference will be given to applicants who have completed/or are in the process of completing English 101/103 or who have completed a number of writing intensive courses
• Applicants should also be in good academic standing at the time of applying, and during their tenure as Student Assistant

Priority is given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
