The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Anatomic Pathology. Appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor. UPEI is committed to teaching, service and research. The AVC has 248 DVM students, over 62 graduate students, 67 full-time faculty and a professional and technical team of 222 dedicated individuals. It has full accreditation by the AVMA/CVMA and delivers DVM, MVSc, MSc and PhD programs. Our diagnostic anatomic pathology laboratory provides high quality service to both the AVC Teaching Hospital and clients from the 4 Atlantic Canadian provinces.  This position is subject to budgetary approval.

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will primarily involve the delivery of undergraduate and graduate courses in veterinary anatomic pathology and the provision of high quality domestic postmortem and surgical biopsy services. The candidate will also actively participate in the supervision and training of MVSc students and residents in anatomic pathology.  Additional duties will include independent and collaborative research. We are looking for a candidate who is interested in becoming a member of a cohesive team of pathologists and technical staff dedicated to the best possible teaching of our DVM and post-graduate students, as well as providing timely, accurate diagnostic information to our clients.

The successful candidate will:

• Have demonstrated teaching, service and research skills
• Have a DVM or equivalent degree
• Be board certified by the ACVP in anatomic pathology
• Hold a graduate degree in a field related to veterinary anatomic pathology. A PhD is preferred and other graduate degrees will be considered
• Have effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a collegial, team atmosphere
• Be eligible for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association

The salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. Full-time, permanent faculty receives a comprehensive fringe benefits package with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
