STUDENT RESEARCH ASSISTANTS
Hours of Work: 

During the semester, students must work a minimum of 4 hours per week and may work up to 20 hours/week depending on their class schedule. There will be a two day training session in preparation for the survey implementation. Mandatory attendance during training session is expected

Salary: 
$ 10.00 per hour (vacation pay included)

We are looking to recruit approximately 15 individuals to work as Student Research Assistants.
The student research assistant will report directly to the Project Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for data collection as part of larger school nutrition policy evaluation project. Specific duties include: travel to schools around Prince Edward Island, obtaining and organizing parental consent forms; collecting dietary data (short food frequency and lunch time food record) from Grade 5 and 6 children in schools across the province; measuring height and weight of students; working with school communities and conducting consultative meetings; analyzing qualitative data; communicating with schools. Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Preference will be given to a third or fourth year student in the Foods and Nutrition major program who has successfully completed FS/FN 331 Research Methods and FN 351 Nutritional Assessment courses; preference given to those with higher academic standing
• Excellent oral communication skills; interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member; ability to work with school staff and children
• Excellent documentation skills; attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Must have access to a reliable vehicle (mileage is provided) and be willing to travel to various locations in Prince Edward Island.
• Experience working with schools and school children an asset
Where possible, one qualified candidate each will be selected based on residence in each of three counties (Prince, Queens and Kings). This is critical to facilitate obtaining parental consent forms and data collection across the province.
