$9,568 (16 week term) (vacation pay included). Room and board provided as a taxable employment benefit.

The University of Prince Edward Island, through the Centre for Life-Long Learning, is seeking an Activity Coordinator for its youth Spring/Summer English as Second Language (EAL) Program – Explore.
Two Explore Programs will be offered in 2013 for Canadian and International students. A spring program for those 19 years of age and older and a summer program for those 16-17 years of age. Participants have formal EAL lessons during weekday mornings and organized socio-cultural activities during weekday evenings and weekends. The Activity Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the organization and implementation of the socio-cultural activities.
Candidates who are seeking employment as the Activity Coordinator with Explore are to consider the following criteria:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Activity Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager and is responsible for:
• Organizing and carrying out socio-cultural activities with the assistance of the activity supervisory staff.
• Supervision and delegation of tasks for the Activity Supervisors.
• Resolution of work-place conflicts, conducting daily staff meetings and being a liaison between the Activity Supervisors and the Program Manager.
• Organizing, scheduling and overseeing of weekday afternoon workshops.
• Coordination of transportation for all off-campus excursions.
• Maintaining and supervision of the socio-cultural budget, which includes daily expenditures and program revenue.
• Designing a data base for tracking daily expenditures.
• Soliciting support from local businesses and organizations.
• Upholding and enforcing the rules and regulations of the Explore Program.
• Assisting with staff training.
• Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager
The Activity Coordinator is required to live in residence and eat meals with students over the course of the Spring/Summer Programs – May 27- August 10, 2013.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications: Proficient Managerial skills. Experience with supervising other individuals. Administrative experience; including knowledge of maintaining a budget, and setting up a data base to track spending. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Leadership experience within a residential setting. Current First Aid and CPR certification. Proficiency in spoken French. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Class 4 Driver’s License (to drive a 15-passenger van); Previous experience with the Summer EAL Programs
