The University of Prince Edward Island recently launched a new School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences within the Faculty of Science, the only program of its kind in Atlantic Canada.  We are currently seeking an individual for the position of the School’s inaugural Associate Dean. He/she will lead the new School and be the academic, administrative and community leader of the School. The candidate should have a PhD in a related area and at least 6 years of administrative and/or relevant experience.  The initial search is open to full-time tenured faculty members of UPEI at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

The term of office of the Associate Dean shall be six years with a formal review after three years.  The estimated starting date is July 1, 2016.

The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at UPEI consists of an active group of people with a proven record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, scholarly activity and university and community service.  The new programs in the School will focus on applied areas of mathematics, computer science, and statistics.

Reporting to the Dean of Science and the Vice-President Academic, the Associate Dean of the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences will be an excellent teacher and scholar with a proven track record in administration.  He/she will have exceptional communication skills and an open, transparent and collegial leadership style.  The Associate Dean will foster and advance a vision for the School that will embrace growth and development using a collaborative approach.

Full-time permanent faculty receive a comprehensive fringe benefits package including group life, accidental death and dismemberment, supplemental health, travel insurance, pension and long-term disability
