The Department of History at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach the following course during 2017 Summer Session (May 15 - June 30).  This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.

HIST 373: The Second World War in Global Context

This course combines lectures and class discussions and covers the history of the Second World War, its causes, conduct, and impact on twentieth century history. Topics include the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi movement in Germany; the international crises of the 1930s; the war on land, on sea, and in the air in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East; the Holocaust; the wartime conferences of Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt; the use of atomic weapons against Japan; the post-war Nuremberg Trials; the origins of the Cold War; and the impact of the war on society and the home front.

Successful applicants should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in History or a related discipline, and teaching and/or research experience focussing on the Second World War in its global context.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
