The Department of English invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach one (1) section of English 381 (Professional Writing) in the Second Summer Session of 2017. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.

This course introduces students from a variety of disciplines to the skills and tasks required for effective communication in a professional environment. The course focuses on the following: analytical reports, proposals, descriptions of processes, extended definitions, instructions, business correspondence, memoranda, graphics, presentation of data, and oral presentations. Assignments, designed for the student=s particular discipline, emphasize a sound analysis of the goals for each task, and the effective, economical, clear, and correct use of language to achieve these goals.

Tuesday & Thursday 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Applicants should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in English or a cognizant discipline, as well as teaching experience at the post-secondary level.  Experience teaching writing will be considered as asset.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
