The Department of Athletics and Recreation invites applications for a full-time permanent position as Business Manager. This position will co-report to the Director of Athletics and Recreation and the Comptroller.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the Director in the departmental budget development, ongoing oversight and strategic planning
• Support the management team in developing efficient and effective business processes
• Provide leadership in the implementation of a new Membership Management System for the Department of Athletics and Recreation
• Under direction of the Comptroller’s Office, ensure alignment with university financial policies and procedures while providing financial and business planning advice to the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
• Prepare regular financial analysis and reports for various stakeholders with attention to details and deadlines
• Provide oversight to the contract  development processes relating to the business operations of the department
• Ensure that all departmental procurement processes are in accordance with university policies and procedures
• Establish and maintain effective internal controls for sales and cash flow
• Provide leadership and oversight in revenue generating opportunities for the department
• Develop Departmental Business Plans
• Monitor and coordinate Athletic Financial Awards
• Other duties related to the business activities of Athletics and Recreation

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate degree and Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
• Experience working in a university would be an asset
• Detailed knowledge of, and experience working with, computerized accounting systems
• Excellent computer skills including advanced proficiency using spreadsheets and database query programs
• Excellent time management skills and organizational skills
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
