The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a sessional instructor to teach the following course in the Summer Session 2017.

ED 4110-99    Learners and Learning
This course explores the growth and development of learners from early childhood to late adolescence. Topics include physical, cognitive, social/emotional and moral/spiritual development; individual differences; learning theories and motivation; behaviour; and the legal, ethical, and counselling responsibilities of teachers.

This is a three-semester hour course offered on-campus to students in the BEd program from May 10 to May 24 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

ED 4260-2   Math I

This course introduces students to the pedagogies, practices, and instructional alternatives that foster acquisition of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes critical to success in the sciences, technology, engineering and maths.

This is a three-semester hour course offered on-campus to students in the BEd program from June 1 to July 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm to 6:50pm.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.  For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience.  Candidates who do not have previous online teaching experience must be open to and willing to do extra training for this delivery model, and without additional compensation.

In addition, candidates applying to teach graduate courses will normally have established expertise, and successful leadership and/or teaching experience in a context related to the foci of the cohort.

In all instances, qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Faculty of Education will be given priority. 

THE OFFERING OF THESE COURSES IS CONDITIONAL PENDING FINAL ENROLMENT NUMBERS.   ALL SESSIONAL COURSES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FINAL BUDGETARY AND ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL.  THE AVAILABIILTY OF THESE SESSIONAL POSITIONS IS CONDITIONAL ON THE FINALIZATION OF REGULAR FACULTY MEMBER WORKLOAD DISTRIBUTION.
