Reporting to the University Librarian, the incumbent will be responsible for managing a suite of continuing education/professional development certificate programs and courses, the development and implementation of a marketing and communications plan and developing the strategic direction for recruiting and cultivating students/clients to UPEI.


• Identify and prospect opportunities for continuing education/professional development programs/courses and work with content experts to develop new programming
• Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients, students, instructors etc.
• Develop, plan and execute adult student recruitment initiatives and events
• In collaboration with OSDL program personnel and Integrated Communications, create an array of publications, brochures, and other marketing material, ensuring program information and website is accurate and up-to-date
• Research alternative revenue streams including contract proposals, new partnerships, and grants
• Write proposals in response to client enquiries for customized training and requests for proposals and assist in the planning, development and implementation of new projects.
• Supervise administrative staff with respect to the delivery of continuing education and professional development programs and courses
• In consultation with the University Librarian, establish and maintain the budget for continuing education and professional development programming, ensuring instructor contracts are executed
• Manage and oversee the maintenance of current and potential instructor information as well as the OSDL client data base
• Establish measurement and tracking mechanisms to support program evaluation.
• Represent the OSDL at potential marketing functions, deliver presentations and serve as primary point of contact for clients, instructors etc.
• Advise program participants on paths to completion, interpretation of completion criteria and assessing outside courses for credit
• Develop annual calendar of program and course offerings


We are seeking a person with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.  The successful applicant will have experience in the education and training field with a minimum of two years’ experience in marketing and business development.

• Demonstrated understanding of marketing and communications
• Demonstrated understanding of training and development
• Demonstrated  organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships, work independent and in a team
• Demonstrate excellent written, oral and presentation skills
• Capacity to do independent research
• Proficiency in use of various forms of technology
