$40,402 - $44,437 per annum, prorated to time and term as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)

January 2012 - January 2013 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.)

This employee will provide a wide variety of administrative support services to the Faculty of Education. This is a very fast-paced, multitasking environment with a high volume of traffic in the Faculty office. Therefore, the person in this position must be very friendly, adaptable, flexible and must possess a high degree of initiative.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires a person with the ability to handle a wide range of inquiries, to liaise with faculty, staff, students and the public, to prepare a variety of correspondence and minutes from various meetings, to maintain email distribution lists, to schedule appointments and meetings, to handle confidential information in a responsible manner, to maintain student files and monitor records and degree audits (for the various programs in the Faculty of Education), to assist with preparation of the timetable, book classrooms, to assist with various committees, to liaise with Registrar’s Office, Accounting and other departments on campus, to process internal and external requisitions, to provide guidance to students, to complete website maintenance. This position also provides administrative support to program coordinators, to faculty and sessionals. This person also works in collaboration with the Administrative team in the Faculty of Education. Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate should have an administrative and/or secretarial course and at least two (2) years related work experience, preferably in a University environment or equivalent combination of education and experience would be acceptable. Experience and use of microcomputers with various software programs such as Windows, Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Access, Drupal, HTML, and Internet (must be able to search for information as required). The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills and be able to function as a member of a team in a busy academic department.
