Buy a staff and faculty parking permit

Staff and faculty can purchase campus parking permits (subject to availability) from the Facilities Management Office (Central Utility Building) starting August 10, 2016, Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm; or at the Parking Kiosk located on the main level of the W. A. Murphy Student Centre (kiosk operating August 24 to September 23, 2016 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm).

When completing the Parking Permit Application, please include your UPEI ID number, vehicle licence plate number, model, and year.

Parking permits are assigned by proximity to staff and faculty working locations*.

Parking is also available at the Bell Aliant Centre/MacLauchlan Arena parking lot. Permits for this lot are purchased at the Bell Aliant Centre front desk and are offered at "full time" rates.

Parking is enforced by the UPEI Security Division.

2016-17 Staff and Faculty Parking Permit Types and Rates

General Permits allow the permit holder to park in the General Parking Lots A, B (lower lot), D, and E which are located around campus. This permit type is sold in limited quantities and does not guarantee the holder a space. General permit holders may not park in a Designated Lot. General Parking Lot permits are valid for one year and must be purchased on an annual basis. Payment can be either made by cash, cheque, credit, debit, or through payroll deductions. General Parking Lots are monitored daily from 7 am–5 pm, September–April, except on holidays and weekends.

Designated Permits for Non-gated Lot G, and Gated Lots B and C allow the permit holder to park in one of three gated Designated Parking Lots. This permit type is sold in limited quantities to permanent full or permanent part-time employees and does not guarantee the holder a space. Non permanent employees can also purchase a designated permit, but must renew their permit each year. If there are not spaces available in the particular Designated Parking Lot, permit holders may park in a General Parking Lot. Designated Parking Lot permits must now be paid for by annual payroll deduction, but the permit holder no longer has to re-purchase it on an annual basis. Non-gated, Gated, and Designated Parking lots are monitored daily from 7 am–5 pm, year round, except on holidays and weekends. 

Designated Permits for AVC Lot B (not gated) allow the permit holder to park in an non-gated portion of Lot B near the Atlantic Veterinary College. They are valid for one year and must be purchased on an annual basis. Payment can be either made by cash, cheque, credit, debit, or through payroll deductions. This permit type is sold in limited quantities and does not guarantee the holder a space. If there are not spaces available in this particular Designated Parking Lot, permit holders may park in a General Parking Lot.

Reserved Parking Permits allow the permit holder (either an individual or department) to park in a reserved space. Reserved spaces are assigned, limited in availability, and are non-transferable. For more information about reserved spaces, contact the Facilities Management Office, (902) 393-5992.

Temporary Permits allow access to a General Parking Lot for a 24-hour, weekly, biweekly or monthly period and can be purchased either by individuals or by UPEI departments. Departments can obtain temporary permits from Facilities Management by submitting an internal requisition signed by the Department head for the number of permits required, including a clear statement of intended use. 48 hours notice is required to ensure delivery.

Daily Permit: $11

Please note: It is recommended that a quantity of daily permits be pre-purchased for use by visitors who are guests of departments/units. Unused permits may be returned to Facilities Management and the cost will be reimbursed to the appropriate department account.

*Designated Parking Lot B: Staff and faculty who work in AVC, Robertson Library, K.C. Irving Chemistry Centre, Duffy Science Centre, Andrew Hall, Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall, McDougall Hall, Cass Science Hall and Campus Kids Child Care Centre staff may purchase Designated Parking Lot B permits.

Designated Parking Lots C and G: Staff and faculty who work in the School of Sustainable Design Engineering, Central Utility Building, SDU Main Building, Steel Building, Dalton Hall, Kelley Memorial Building, Memorial Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre, and Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre may purchase Designated Parking Lot C and G permits.

Designated Parking Lot F: Staff and faculty who work in AVC may purchase Designated Parking Lot F permits.
