ALL vehicles parking on campus must display a valid parking permit during specified enforecement periods - please refer to the parking home page or the Fast Facts which are available at the Accounting Office in the Kelley Memorial Building or at Security Services in the Central Utility Building.

Permit Types

General Permits allow the permit holder to park in the General Parking Lots located around campus. General permit holders may not park in a Designated Lot.

Designated Permits allow the permit holder to park in a specific Designated Lot. This permit type is sold in limited quantities and does not guarantee the holder a spot. If there are not spaces available Designated permit holders may park in a General Lot.

Daily Permits permit access to general parking for a 24 hour period. Departments can obtain daily permits fromt he Accounting Office by submitting an internal requisition signed by the Department head for the number of permits require, including a clear statement of intended use. 48 hours notice is required to ensure delivery.

Please note: It is recommended that department pre-purchase a quantity of temporary permits for the sake of convenience. Unused permits may be retunred to the Accounting Office and the cost will be reimbursed to the appropriate department account.

*Permits may be obtained through the Accounting Office year round or at the Parking Kiosk located on Level 2 of the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre between mid August and mid September. User type will determine the fee(s). Payments can be made through cash, cheque, credit, debit or payroll deduction.

Visitor Parking

Visitors to the UPEI campus may park in any of the metered parking areas that can be found at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre visitor parking lot, the parking lot at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre entrance and outside the north entrance of the Kelley memorial Building.

The metered parking is enforced on weekdays from 07:00 to 19:00 all year round. Metered parking is not enforced on weekends and holidays.

Barrier Free Parking

Barrier Free Parking spaces are available for those individuals with an official disabled permit as well as a valid UPEI parking permit.

For those individuals who require short term use of barrier free parking (e.g. a sports injury), temporary permits may be obtained from the Council of the Disabled.

Inner Campus Vehicle Access

Vehicle access to the inner campus is restricted and must be requested at the Security Services Office in the Central Utility Building. The gated access point to the inner campus is adjacent to the Central Utility Building.

Campus Service Calls & Deliveries

Service and delivery vehicles do not require parking permits on campus. Access to the inner campus must be requested at the Security Services Office in the Central Utility Building. All vehicles stopped on campus to make deliveries are required to display their four way flashers.

Overnight Parking

General: Individuals planning to leave their vehicles on campus overnight are requested to inform the Security Services office. When possible, drivers will be asked to leave their vehicles in the parking are in front of the Central Utility Building as a safety precaution. Vehicle keys must be left at the Security Services Office.

Residents: Residents living in Blanchard Hall may park in the reserved parking lot adjacent to the residence. Residents of Bernadine hall may park their vehicles in the Andrew Hall lot.

Storm: Overnight winter parking, when storm conditions are forecast, is restricted to parking lot A (adjacent to Blanchard Hall). This is to facilitate snow removal operations. Vehicles parking in any other area are subject to being towed at the owner's expense.

In an effort to facilitate snow removal, restrictions on overnight parking are in effect November 1st of each year until March 31st.

Parking Lot A (adjacent to Blanchard Hall) is designated as the only general area where overnight parking will be permitted during the winter season.

A violation of this policy may result in the vehicle being removes from the campus at the owner's expense.
