Applications & Permits:

  • All vehicles parking on the UPEI campus must display a valid parking permit (or use a parking meter).
  • Applications for parking permits must be made annually to the Accounting Office.
  • UPEI ID number and vehicle licence plate number are required before purchasing a parking permit.
  • It is the individual's responsibility to pick up and properly display your permit by the enforcement date set out by UPEI.
  • Designated Parking Permits are specific to the parking lot for which they are issued.
  • Permits must be displayed in the following locations: hanging permits on the rearview mirror, sticker permits on the lower passenger side front windshield.
  • Reserves spaces are for the use of those individuals or departments with a reserved permit.
  • Reserved parking is assigned and limited. Reserved parking in non-transferable.

Violations & Enforcement

  • No person shall operate a motor vehicle in the parking area or lot in excess of 15km per hour.
  • No person shall operate a motor vehicle on the campus in excess of 40km per hour except where authorized vehicles/ parking in areas other than recognized parking spaces (grass, roadway, etc) will be ticketed and may be towed at the owner's expense.
  • A valid parking space is constituted as being between two yellow lines in a parking area.
  • Permits must be displayed in the following locations: hanging permits on the rearview mirror, sticker permits on the lower passenger side front windshield.
  • Visitor parking is available in the metered spaces.
  • Time must be purchased on Parking meters by both visitors AND those individuals with UPEI permits.
  • Drop-off areas are for dropping people off only. Parking in the drop-off areas is not permitted.
  • Barrier-free space are only for vehicles with an official Disabled Parking Permit AND a UPEI Permit displayed in the vehicle.
  • Barrier-free metered spaces are only for vehicles with an official Disabled Parking Permit. Anyone using these spaces MUST pay the meter.
  • Reserved spaces are for the use of individuals or departments with a reserved permit ONLY.
  • A fine will be imposed for each violation of the regulations.
  • Vehicles may be ticketed and or towed at the risk and expense of the owner and at the discretion of the Security Officer.
  • Appeals are allowed provided that they take place in writing within 14 days of the enforcement action.
  • Parking in "No Parking" areas, "special events parking" area, as well as any safety and access violation swill be enforced AT ALL TIMES.
  • Any fine not paid bill become a University receivable and subject to the existing collection policies of the University. Students with unpaid accounts will be not provided with transcripts, either official or unofficial, until such accounts are settled to the satisfaction of the University.
  • Where repeat traffic violations have occurred, or where normal enforcement has proven ineffective, the Director of Facilities Management may suspend an individual's parking privileges for not less than one month or more than one year.
  • The University reserves the right to exclude any person or motor vehicle from the campus.
