Tips

Cars
Consider buying radial tires.  They provide reduced rolling resistance and ultimately help lower fuel consumption. And, make sure that they are kept fully inflated at the manufacturer’s suggested level.

Do not keep your car running unnecessarily.  If you are waiting for someone, turn the engine off.  Restarting the car takes less duel than idling for one minute

Around the House
Use the energy-saver cycle on your dishwasher. Remind yourself by sticking a piece of tape over the longer cycle buttons.

A frost-free refrigerator uses more electricity to operate than a conventional refrigerator.

If you are building or renovating, consider installing a low-flush toilet  that uses about 1L per flush.

During the summer, keep the house cooler by make sure the blinds and curtains are shut.

Other

Ceiling fans are an energy conscious alternative to air conditioners.  They move are in hot weather and also circulate warm air effectively in the winter.

Top save electricity in the summer, set timers on your fans so they can run intermittently throughout the day.
