Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) and NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS)
UPEI DEADLINE FOR ON-LINE SUBMISSION OF COMPLETE APPLICATION
Wednesday October 27, 2010, 4pm
There is a single application and selection process for the Canada Graduate Scholarships and the NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships. The top-ranked applicants at each level, master’s and doctoral, will be offered a CGS and the next tier of meritorious applicants will be offered an NSERC PGS.
Process:
1. Open the NSERC website at www.nserc.ca
2. Enter the section for students, and read about the program
3. Create an account, and log in to fill out FORM 201. Follow the on-line instructions.
4. Make sure that you find two academic references that are familiar with your academic record and research potential. References have to be filled on-line. It is a good idea to inform your referees ahead of time, allowing them sufficient time to work on the references.
5. Arrange to have official undergraduate and graduate transcripts sent to Colleen Gallant (Office of Graduate Studies, Room 225 MacDougall Hall) by October 20, 2010. Colleen Gallant is the UPEI designate responsible for uploading transcripts. Her e-mail address is cgallant@groupwise.upei.ca
6. Submit your application on-line by the university deadline of October 27, 2010. – Only apply through UPEI if you are currently registered in a degree program at UPEI, or finished your degree sometime in 2010.
7. If you are selected to have your application submitted to NSERC, you will be contacted to ensure that the application conforms to the NSERC guidelines.
