Dr. Margie Burns, an assistant professor with the UPEI Faculty of Nursing, is conducting a research project about communication between paramedics and the relatives of critically ill patients when the patient is being transferred off-Island for advanced critical care services.

Twenty groups of fourth-year UPEI nursing students in the Nursing and Population Health course worked with agencies across PEI this semester to create innovative projects and programs to promote health and wellness.

On December 6, the UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) held a candlelight vigil in recognition of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, which was created in response to the murder of 14 women, most of whom were engineering students, at the École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989. The vigil was also an opportunity to remember the 10 women murdered on PEI since 1989 by someone who knew them, and murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls in Canada.

The University of Prince Edward Island invites the nomination of candidates for honorary degrees to be conferred at Convocation in May 2024.

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for November 27–December 3 are Alaere Peterside (track and field) and Noah Sedore (men’s hockey).
