Help us kick-off Mental Health Week with a keynote presentation entitled: Our Story, by Mr. Darin Meek, on Monday, March 9 at 1:30 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Cenre. Stick around for an exciting announcement from the UPEI Student Union! Darin’s daughter, Chalyce, would have been a third-year university student this year had she not lost her battle with anxiety and depression. On January 13, 2012 Chalyce took her own life at the age of 17. Listen to her family’s story and how they, through support of each other and support from family, friends, and the community, have moved forward. Darin’s inspirational story will show us all how we can help one another in making our Island community a healthier and more supportive environment by taking action in addressing mental health issues and breaking down the stigma. This event is free for UPEI students, staff, and faculty. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
