Co-operative education combines classroom studies with practical work experience outside the university environment. The idea is based on the principle that learning is greatly enhanced when the concepts presented in the classroom are periodically applied, tested, and observed by students in meaningful work situations.

Our students are enthusiastic, willing to learn and keen to contribute to your organization. Co-op students can offer fresh perspectives, assist you with new or difficult to get to projects and be a cost-effective and low-risk means of recruiting and evaluating potential permanent hires.

The University of Prince Edward Island offers co-operative education students from three programs: Business, Mathematics and Computational Sciences, and Physics.

Students are available for 12- to 16-week work terms (full-time), hiring periods are as follows:

  •    Winter: January - April
  •    Summer: May - August
  •    Fall: September - December

Special permission may also be granted for a part-time student work term, where students work a total of 32 weeks, falling within two of the above periods linking back to back.

We make hiring a great student easy and will help you through the process.
