Where will I park during the Games?

UPEI has entered into a Parking and Traffic Plan with the Canada Games Host Society for the period of August 15-29, 2009. Because UPEI is primarily affected during the second week, this plan concentrates specifically on the period of August 22-29.

UPEI personnel may park in the General and Designated B lots (those located on the south side of the K.C. Irving Chemistry Centre and adjacent to the AVC).

Check the map for details. Or, if you can, take the bus!

TRAFFIC FLOW
The basic traffic flow within campus consists of the Ring Road, from University Avenue to Belvedere Avenue, with the exception of the roadway north and east of Parking Lot D and CARI parking, where traffic will be diverted to the west and south of these two lots (the Ring Road will be blocked at these points shown in red on the map.)

ENTRY INTO UPEI
In an effort to reduce the amount of traffic in the north end of campus, where much of the Canada Games activity will be occurring, all UPEI personnel are asked to please use the Belvedere Avenue entrance, beginning August 22. To assist the flow of traffic, the Canada Games Host Society will be doing manual traffic control.

Traffic entering from Belvedere Avenue will only be able to turn right (heading north) and proceed onto the Ring Road or into Parking Lot B through the lower (VTH) entrance. Some of the concrete barriers inside the lot will be relocated to allow traffic to enter into the designated portion of the parking lot. Authorized vehicles, such as delivery trucks for the Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall, as well as emergency services, waste removal, maintenance, and Canada Games transportation vehicles, are exempt.

Traffic entering from University Avenue may turn left (heading north) and proceed onto the Ring Road or turn right (heading south) as usual to proceed to the metered and reserved parking lots adjacent to the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, Kelley Memorial Building, and McDougall Hall.

PARKING PLAN
Reserved and metered parking spaces will remain the same and will be monitored during the Canada Games. Persons using the meters will still be required to pay the meter.

These lots are located adjacent to the W. A. Murphy Student Centre, Kelley Memorial Building, and McDougall Hall. Accessible parking information can be found here.

Persons who normally park in Designated Parking Lot C and the remaining faculty, staff and students will park in the B lots. These areas are identified in green on the map.

The Campus Kids Childcare Centre will use four of the metered spaces (spaces will be identified with signage) in front of McDougall Hall.

The CARI spaces will be reserved for CARI staff and visitors, and will consist of the gated CARI Aquatics Facility parking lot, west of the CARI Complex, adjacent to the Aquatics Facility (identified in blue on the map).

The National Research Council spaces will be reserved for NRC staff, as usual (purple on the map).

The Host Society spaces will be reserved for Games mission staff, volunteers, VIPs, Games' staff, Athletes' Village access, emergency access, and buses. These spaces consist of Lots A, C, D, and E, metered parking at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, behind MacLauchlan Arena for CARI staff, Bill and Denise Andrew Hall parking lot, and parking between the Campus Kids Childcare Centre/Bernardine Hall/Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall. Games' areas will be posted with signage and may be monitored by Games' volunteers. These areas are identified with orange on the map. These areas will be subdivided into designated zones (and marked with appropriate signage) for use during the Games.
