The Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre has an annual budget for a guest speaker and for books and other resources.

Books and Journals

We are building a comprehensive library that covers practical, scientific and philosophical aspects of animal well-being. Our purchases supplement the titles that the Atlantic Veterinary College buys and all these resources are housed in the University’s Robertson Library.

How to look for a title

• Books and journals To find books and journals, search the catalogue at the Robertson Library. Example: for a general listing of titles, type animal welfare in the Search Box and then click on the Search button.
• Journal articles To look for particular journal articles, go to the Veterinary Medicine Databases at the Robertson Library. There you will find a list of databases relating to animal science and veterinary medicine; for example, VetCD, Agricola and PubMed. Some of these databases are "subscription only" therefore their use is restricted to members of the University of Prince Edward Island.
• General articles To look for more general articles including newspaper reports, use Academic Search and/or Canadian Business and Current Affairs under the General and Interdisciplinary Databases at the Robertson Library.
