Dr. Sunny Hartwig, Assistant Professor in AVC’s Department of Biomedical Science, recently received $350,000 from the Kidney Foundation of Canada to fund her research into kidney disease. The funding includes the foundation’s Krescent New Investigator Award, a competition in which Dr. Hartwig ranked first in the country. Dr. Hartwig is working to understand the genetics behind kidney disease, with the goal of finding a way to help diseased kidneys repair themselves.
