Final: 2-0 W

On Sunday the number ten ranked Panthers completed the weekend sweep by defeating the Huskies 2-0. The Panthers dominated possession and created several quality scoring chances but the score remained 0-0 at the half. In the second half the Panthers opened the scoring on a well designed short corner that caught the Huskies napping and Chelsie McInnis converted at the near post for her second of the season.

With fifteen minutes left, a counter attacked resulted in a little back  heal pass from Maria Scichilone to rookie Icelandic striker Andrea Yr Gustavdottir who rocketed a first time shot just under the cross-bar and into the top corner back post.

"I thought we improved leaps and bounds today. We were much more organised and players started to get comfortable playing as a unit. We were more committed to defending and stayed organised defensively. We were pleased with the contributions of the entire group," stated head coach Mike Redmond.

"Andrea's goal was pure class and it put the game beyond reach for the Huskies," remarked Redmond. The Panthers last won both games at Dalhousie and St. Mary's in 2006.Redmond commented, "It's always special to win these games and the credit goes to the players for staying resolute over the two days and getting six valuable points."

The Panthers are on the road next weekend versus Mt. A before opening up at home on the 24th of September versus The University of Moncton.
