The number ten ranked team in the Country the UPEI Women's Soccer Panthers started the season with two huge wins on the road versus Dalhousie and St. Mary's. On Saturday the Panthers recorded a 2-1 victory over the Dal Tigers with goals from rookie Maria Scichilone and 5th year striker Chelsie McInnis who scored a wonderful goal in the 80th minute to break a 1-1 tie.
"We struggled early to get a hold of the ball," stated eighth year head Coach Michael Redmond. "The nerves of a new season and to Dalhousie credit they controlled much of the game," explained Redmond. "Both goals were fantastic, with one with great counter attack and the second a class individual effort so we will learn as a group and correct the little things."
