Brianna Ford scored both goals on UNB’s only shots of the game as the Reds ended any thoughts UPEI had for an undefeated season. Ford opened the scoring in the 18th minute on a longshot that dropped into the net after being deflected off the crossbar by Panther keeper Channelle Roy.
Panther rookie Jenna Jo MacDonald evened the score in the 71st minute heading a ball just over the line before UNB keeper Jackie Blank got her hands on it. Neither of the two goals made it 2 feet over the goal line.
UNB responded right away as Ford scored a highlight goal, heading a 30 yard cross past a helpless Roy in the 72nd minute.
The Panthers pressured the remainder of the game, missing in the 80th minute when Danae Iatrou nailed the post high to the keepers right and seeing the rebound miss the net. In the 90th minute Stewart rang a 30 yard free kick of the crossbar
UPEI had 9 corners on the day to UNB’s 2, however seldom generated a quality chance from the set pieces.
