The Panthers cruised in to a 43-12 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in Women's Rugby action last Saturday. The score was 17-7 at half.
Tries were scored by seven different team members including Keisha Rose, Jaleesa Villard, Olivia Landry, Sumara Profit, Kayla Weatherbie, Janelle MacKenzie and Kaitlin Richard. Out of the seven converts attempted, Amylou Callier put four through the uprights and two bounced off the crossbar.
Head coach Shannon Atkins commented on the game, “Although it was terrific to have the win and secure our position in the semi-final game, we did not perform to our abilities. We need to focus on structure and controlling how we play. We have much to work on this week at practice to prepare for our final league game against Acadia.”
Vanessa French was chosen as player of the game and Jaleesa Villard had a great showing as well. The Panthers will play Acadia at home at 1:00 on Saturday October 15.
