The UPEI Women's Rugby Team meets Acadia this weekend on home soil for their last home game at MacAdam field located at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place 4pm (game time has changed).
The Panthers are winless headed into the week-end, but are optimistic about changing the tide on Saturday. A win over Acadia and another over Saint Mary's would put them in third place.
"We have been preparing for the second half of the season since the beginning. We new that the early part of the season would pose a challenge and new that we would improve with time - that time is now, " commented head coach Shannon Atkins. "We have our backs to the wall because we are in a need to win situation at this point; however, the team is definitely up to the challenge."
The last few games veteran players have stepped up and played with power and passion, including Keisha Rose, Jalessa Villard and Rebecca Robison. In addition rookie Vanessa French has moved into a key position defensively.
The Panthers would like to congratulate and thank Ashley MacIntyre and Bailey Harper for their time with the Panthers. Both will be playing their last home game as Panthers.
