Women's Rugby still in battle for last playoff spot

The UPEI Panthers hit the road Sunday for their last game of the AUS season.

It has been rough for the Panthers (0-5), who have played some of their best rugby in the past few years.

Former AUS all-star and All-Canadian Kaitlin Richard missed two games, due to receiving a red card in one game and suffering a concussion in the another,  but she is expected to be back in the lineup when the Panthers head to Halifax to face the Saint Mary’s Huskies (1-4).

The Panthers need to beat the Huskies by nine points to secure a spot in the playoffs.

This could be the final game for seniors Ashley MacIntyre (prop) and Bailey Harper (standoff.

“It is all in their hands now,” said UPEI head coach Shannon Atkins. “This team can win every game all the way to the AUS championship final. We have played our best games against St. F.X. (5-0), and now it is time to play our games, period.”
