The UPEI women's rugby team held their own in the first half vs. the #3 nationally ranked SFX.  Defensive pressure on X lead X to make many mistakes.  At half X was up 12-0, but this is the smallest deficit that any team in the AUS has had against X this season leaving the X girls feeling frustrated.

On Saturday the UPEI Panthers Women's rugby team had a disappointing home opener losing to the Saint Mary's Huskies 19-10.  They worked hard in the first half and kept the Huskies to a lone try which was scored while UPEI was down a player, Kaitlin Richard, who was in the sin bin for a dangerous tackle.

Former rugby Panther, Ashley MacDonald, has joined fellow Islander Heather Moyse on Team Canada for the World Rugby Championships in England. She was recently called up to wear the maple leaf when several other team members were injured.
MacDonald made an impact while at UPEI, earning Academic All Canadian status twice, being named an AUS All-Star and a CIS All-Canadian in 2005, and AUS Rookie of the Year in 2004. She then transferred to UBC where she was part of two CIS championship teams and, again, a CIS All-Canadian.
Good luck, Ashley!
