UPEI Women's Rugby begin season with a win

The UPEI Women's Rugby team is far ahead of the last couple seasons with a win today over the Saint Mary's Huskies 12-0 in the first regular season game.

The UPEI Women's Rugby team home opener is Saturday at 1pm vs. the Saint Mary Huskies.  Just prior to game time the Panthers will honour former Panther Ashley MacDonald.

The UPEI Women's Rugby Team had their largest turn out to date for this seasons training camp.  Thirty-six athletes are competing for the chance to be a member of the Panthers squad this season.

If you’re a UPEI full time student, you are welcome to try out for a varsity sports teams that compete regionally against other university teams in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference and nationally in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS).

2010 AUS Women's Rugby All-Stars Announced

October 28, 2010 (HALIFAX, N.S.) - Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2010 women's rugby all-star team as selected by the conference's four head coaches following regular season play.

The UPEI women's rugby team finished the season with a tough 12-0 lose to the Saint Mary Huskies.  UPEI player of the week, Keisha Rose was outstanding on i the game with solid tackles, cross covering and physical.  She challenged the Huskies both offensively and defensively for 80 mins.

The UPEI Panthers hit the road Sunday for their last game of the AUS season.

It has been rough for the Panthers (0-5), who have played some of their best rugby in the past few years.
