Tuesday night in a makeup game against the Moncton Aigles Blues (16-2-1) the UPEI women’s hockey Panthers (10-9) were in total control of the game until the third period and lost 2-1.
The Panthers were unable to score in the first period but outshot the Aigles Bleus 15-3. It only took 45 seconds into the second period for Panther Ferran Brown to score her 8th goal of the season assisted by Jenelle MacKenzie and lead 1-0. The Panthers continued to dominate during the entire second period outshooting UdeM 12-6.
The third period changed with a power play goal from Genevieve David at the 3:44 mark to tie the game. UdeM began to show more life and skated to the win with a goal from Janie Leblanc at 13:16 of the third.
Kristy Dobson recorded the lost for the Panthers in net and Kathy Desjardins earned the win for Moncton. The Panthers nearly doubled the Aigles Blues 32-17 shots on net.
The Panthers host UdeM Saturday night at MacLauchlan Arena 7 pm and Sunday head east to Souris to play the Dalhousie Tigers at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex at 3pm.
