Panthers defeat Huskies in Women’s Hockey 4-1

Friday night was a good hockey night at UPEI with the women beating St. Mary’s 4-1. 

Kelsey O’Donnell scored the first goal at even power with the assist from Jenelle MacKensie and then MacKenzie ended the period late with a short handed goal to go up 2-0 with Alicia Betts assisting.

 

St. Mary’s came on strong in the second,  Leah MacLennan scoring in the first minute  for their only goal of the game. Danielle Maxwell of the Panthers scored two power plays goals, one in the second period assisted by Suzanne Cortylet to go up 3-1 and one early in the third period to pad the win 4-1, MacKenzie assisted for her third point of the night.

 

The Panthers were out shot by the Huskies 30-18 but came out with the win Bailey Toupin was the winning goalie for UPEI with 29 saves and Jilian MacIsaac was the losing goalie for the Huskies with 14 saves.

 

The Panthers are on the road Sunday when they head to MTA.
