Panthers fall to Acadia 99-70

The UPEI Panthers were unable to close the early lead that Acadia built in the first quarter Saturday afternoon in Wolfville, Nova Scoita.

Acadia won three of the four quarters with scores of 24-12, 21-16, 33-14 but the Panthers showed their true heart in the fourth quarter winning it 28-21. 

Kristy Moore of Acadia led both teams with 28 points and 6 rebounds followed by Emma Duinker adding 17 points and 7 rebounds. The UPEI Panthers top player was Amy Gough with 18 and Jenna Jones netting 13 points. 

Acadia shot well today with 47% from the field and the Panthers were much improved from Friday, shooting 39 %. The Axewomen used their height inside and out rebounded the Panthers 46-22.

The Panthers have one remaining league game at home on  Saturday February 25 at 4pm when they host the Cape Breton Capers.   UPEI will honour graduating 5th year forward Katie Moore at Saturday’s game.
