Day 2 Results

Friday night at the CIS Championship Janet Gamble finished 7th in the 50m free.

UPEI Panther Janet Gamble finished 14th in the morning prelims of the 50m fly, she will swim in the B final tonight and is the first Panther in history to swim in a CIS Final A or B.

In the 50m Free Gamble made A final for Friday night and will have a shot at a medal.

Day 1 Results

MONTREAL — No swimmers from P.E.I. advanced to the finals at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport swimming championships after preliminary races Thursday.

UPEI swimming had a record breaking weekend, bringing home five medals total, 2 AUS records and many personal bests.  Fifth year Janet Gamble earned 3 Gold (50m fly, 50m back, & 50 m free) breaking records in  50m back & free and 1 Silver in 100 m free.  Eric Beaton won Silver in the 50 m free.  Both Gamble and Beaton will be heading to the CIS Championship. Day 3 results.

Saturday night at the Subway AUS Swimming Championship, Janet Gamble added to her medal count, winning both the 50 m fly  and 50 m free and setting a new AUS Record in both while earning 3 gold AUS medals this weekend. 

Eric Beaton tied for second in the 50m free bringing home silver.  Day 2 results.

Janet Gamble made history Friday night at the Subway AUS Swimming  Championship winning the Panthers first women's medal in the 50 m back stroke.  Gamble took home Gold in a time of 29.61 seconds.  In the B final Panthers Genevieve Cormier finished 3rd and Kerri-Ann Allan came 4th.  In the men's 50 m back, UPEI 's Eric Beaton finished 6th in the A Final. UPEI swimmers Beaton and Gamble looking to win titles at AUS championships this weekend

This weekend’s Atlantic University Sport swimming championship will be the last hurrah for UPEI’s two star swimmers — Eric Beaton and Janet Gamble. Full schedule and details of event.

Early Sunday morning, most swimmers and coaches were looking a little sleepy, but as soon as the athletes hit the water that all changed.  

UPEI swimmer Eric Beato won the 50 m freestyle and swam his personal best of 23:43 for the event. Other Panthers who swam personal bests this weekend were Kerri-Ann Allan shaved 2.80 seconds off the 100m back event for a 1:14:56 time, Dianna Loveys had her best in the 50m back - 40:15 and 50 m free - 33:39.  Suzanne Nicholson improved in the 100m fly to a time of 1:13:34 and Eeve Stever posted 38:10 in the 50 m back.

UPEI head coach Bill Calhoun was pleased with the Panthers and their results this past weekend at Acadia.  The UPEI women's 4X50m Free Relay team won silver for the first relay medal ever for UPEI. Janet Gamble, Genevieve Cormier, Sydney Morley and Kerri-Ann Allan swam the 200 Free relay in a time of 1:56:71 seconds.

Nine years removed from competitive swimming, the former Olympian returned to the pool with the UPEI Panthers last weekend and dominated the Amby Legere Atlantic University Sport Invitational at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, N.B. Read more from the Guardian.
