CHARLOTTETOWN – A former Olympian is hoping to make a big splash at UPEI this fall when she competes for the Swim Panthers in the AUS (Atlantic University Sports) championships.  Read more from the Journal.

If you’re a UPEI full time student, you are welcome to try out for a varsity sports teams that compete regionally against other university teams in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference and nationally in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS).

Friday afternoon at the CIS Swimming Championship, Eric Beaton just missed the B final finishing 19 of 60 swimmers with a time of 23.60.
 Beaton started off the CIS Swim Championship on Thursday  with a personal best in th 50m back in a new universtiy record time of 28.44 seconds.

 

UPEI Panther Swimmer Eric Beaton is heading for the CIS Swimming Championship being held at the University of Calgary this weekend.  Beaton will arrive on Wednesday in Calgary for preparation of events Thursday to Saturday.

The UPEI Swimmers had an outstanding weekend at the Subway AUS Championship held at Dalhousie University.

Eric Beaton the only male Panther earned gold in the 50m freestyle for the second year in a row with a time of 23.60 and a new university record of 28.37 - 50m back stroke and finished 4th.

The Panthers had four swimmers make individual finals on Friday night at the 2011 Subway AUS Swimming Championship, with two new university records.

Eric Beaton won gold in the 50m freestyle Saturday night at DAL in a time of 23.60.  This is his second AUS Championship gold medal in this event.

February 11, 2011 (HALIFAX, N.S.) - At the 2011 Subway AUS Swimming Championship luncheon held this afternoon at Dalhousie University, UPEI Panthers swimmer Kaylynne Parkes was named the inaugural recipient of the AUS Student-Athlete Community Service Award for the sport of swimming.

The UPEI Panthers are heading for Halifax this weekend for the Subway 2011 AUS Swimming Championship being held by Dalhousie University.
