With the storm on Friday it was uncertain if any hockey was going to be played in Charlottetown Friday Night. It end up that the Panthers played some of their best hockey of the season as they jumped in front of the No 4 ranked Acadia Axemen 5-0 before Acadia scored three to finish the game at 5-3 UPEI.
The difference in this game for the Panthers was contribution by all four lines. It seemed to make no difference which line was on the ice, they all produced points and made some great defense plays.
Saturday night in front of a packed house of over 1100 fans the Panthers again jumped ahead 2-0 but this night was not going to be a walk in the park. St. Mary’s tied the game 2-2 before the end of the first. The Panthers worked their magic again and earned two quick goals in the second to go up 4-2. The third period was rough and rocking for the fans as St. Mary’s scored the power play goal to trail by only one. The Panthers brought the crowd to their feet with an empty netter late in the game to end the game 5-3.
The Panthers host St. Thomas on Wednesday night and will look for revenge after last weekends lost to the Tommies.
