The UPEI men’s hockey team continue their march forward in the second semester with a 7-3 win over St. FX Friday night in Antigonish.
Seven different Panthers scored goals , and eleven players earned points with the Panthers improving to an 11-6 record.
The Panthers opened the scoring 8:09 into the game with a goal from Matt Carter assisted by Dana Fraser and Jordan Knox. Travis McIsaac made it 2-0 with shot handed goal from Jared Gomes.
St. FX got on the board early in the second, before UPEI continued forward scoring two more from Chris Desousa and a power play goal Dana Fraser to end the second period 4-1.
Third period was a furry of goals from both teams. UPEI`s Jared Gomes scoring their fifth just 40 seconds in to the period followed by X one minute later. UPEI added two more Harrison McIver and Jordan Know before half way of the third with St. FX scoring last to finish 7-3.
The Panthers head to Halifax tomorrow night to face the Saint Mary Huskies at 7:0 pm
Stars of the game were Dana Fraser and Jordan Know from the Panthers and Murdock Maclellan from X. St. FX outshot the UPEI 41-36. Mavric Parks earned the win in net for the Panthers with Morgan Clark and Joseph Perricone, splitting net duty for the X-Men.
