The Panthers won 3-2 in overtime vs. UdeM on Friday night in Charlottetown. The Panthers currently in fifth of the AUS with a record of 7-7-2 and in fifth place, only one point out of fourth.
The first period was normal UdeM - UPEI game with 0-0 and lots of extra play. Panther Mattthew Carter scored early to go up 1-0 before UdeM player Dean Ouellet tied it up five minutes later. After a 5-3 advantage the Panthers made it 2-1 with a goal from captain, Thomas Waugh. Moncton soon tied the game 2-2 with a power play goal from former rocket Pierre Andre Bureau.
The third period saw Moncton with more chances but neither team could score the winner. Overtime was shorted lived with Cory Vitarelli of the Panthers winning the game with a great individual effort.
Wayne Savage was in nets for the Panthers and earns the win. Kevin Lachance take the lose in nets for Moncton. Moncton outshot UPEI 40-35.
The Panthers are at home again Saturday night when they host #1 in the CIS, UNB Reds at 7:00 pm.
