Men's Hockey

 

With the storm on Friday it was uncertain if any hockey was going to be played in Charlottetown Friday Night. It end up that the Panthers played some of their best hockey of the season as they jumped in front of the No 4 ranked Acadia Axemen 5-0 before Acadia scored three to finish the game at 5-3 UPEI.

Men's Hockey

 

The Panthers came out flying against the second place Acadia Axemen, scoring two goals in the first period to lead 2-0. The Panthers out shot the Axemen 15-5 in the first period. This was some of the best skating by the Panthers this season.

Panthers (7-8-2) have best showing vs. the UNB Reds (17-0) on Saturday night, losing 5-3.   The Reds went up early with two goals in the first period before a stall mate in the second period. UPEI got the third period going quickly with a goal from Mike MacIsaac assisted by Thomas Stryncl, 25 seconds in to make it 2-1 UNB. In the next ten minutes UNB started the engine and scored two more goals to take what they thought was a comfortable lead 4-1.

The Panthers won 3-2 in overtime vs. UdeM on Friday night in Charlottetown. The Panthers currently in fifth of the AUS with a record of 7-7-2 and in fifth place, only one point out of fourth.

Getting back to work after the Christmas break is on the mind of UPEI (6-7-2) men’s hockey head coach Forbie MacPherson as the Panthers prepare for an exhibition game January 2nd,  when

The UPEI Panthers(6-7-2)ended the first half of the sesaon on a 7-0 lose to UNB(14-0).  Head coach Forbes MacPherson will now have some time to work with the team before the Panthers play UdeM

The Panthers got down to winning in Monton, Saturday night scoring the first three goals at the 3, 10 and 13 minute mark.  UdeM scored only in the second period but out shot the Panthers 33-24

The Panthers were leading up to the last three minutes, before the St. Thomas Tommies rallied with two goals in the final two minutes to beat the UPEI Panthers 7-6.

Forbes MacPherson is heading into the second weekend on the job as head coach of the UPEI Panthers.  The team sits with a 5-5-2 record and MacPherson as coach is 1-1.
