In the last moments of the game it looked like UPEI could come from behind to win, but three trips down the floor and unable to score sealed the game for UNB 80-77, in Fredericton Friday night.
Panthers lead 17-14 after the first ten minutes but a strong second quarter for UNB had them leading 41-30 going into the locker room. UPEI put on the pressure in the third but still trailed 61-55 after 30 minutes.
The Panthers pushed hard in the fourth quarter and had it tied with 3 minutes left and even took the lead at one point but were unable to finish with three trips down the floor and unable to score.
Terrance Brown of the Panthers scored 22 points, but more important seemed to score even with one or two UNB players in his face. Alex Desroches was UNB`s high scorer with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
The Panther travel home tonight and will face St. FX Sunday at 4pm.
