Wellness Wednesday Card Making Session
Learn how to make birthday and thank you cards. The wellness session will be held on Wednesday, March 24 from 12:05-12:55 pm at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre boardroom. A limit of 12 participants. The session is free, however you must register by contacting Angela Marchbank at 566-0606 or amarchbank@upei.ca. Session is for UPEI students, staff & faculty. Registration is on a first-come basis.

Jared Gomes of the UPEI Men's Hockey team named AUS Rookie of the Year

March 16, 2010 (HALIFAX, NS) - Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2009-10 men's hockey major award winners and all-star teams as chosen by the eight Atlantic conference head coaches following regular season play.

The 2009-10 Atlantic University Sport Most Valuable Player is Hunter Tremblay of the UNB Varsity Reds.

Tremblay, a third year forward from Timmins, Ont., led the Atlantic conference and the CIS in scoring (57 points), game-winning goals (8) and short-handed goals (5). His 25 goals this season also tied him for the CIS lead in that category with McGill's Francis Verreault-Paul.

UPEI men's Curling wins CIS Silver

After going 4-0 on Saturday the Panthers were unable to win on Sunday.

The UPEI men tied the game twice and trailed the remainer of the time and the end result was a 7-6 lose to Queens University and a sliver medal for the Panthers. Congratulations on a great weekend Panthers.

UPEI Men's Curling Panthers in CIS Championship

The UPEI Panthers had an outstanding Saturday at the CIS Curling Championship and for their efforts they earned a berth in Sunday's final. They won their last round robin game and then played two tie breakers and a semi final for a 4-0 day on the ice.

In the last round robin game UPEI took control of the draw early and won 11-2 over McGill. They had earned a tie for second and played in one tie breaker vs. Alberta and won 4-1 and then played again vs. Western in their second tie breaker and won 6-3. Both tie breakers were six ends only and no time in between. The day would not end there as they played in a semi final vs. Dalhousie adn won 8-5 and finsihed the day at 4-0.

UPEI Men's Curling pick up two wins

The UPEI Men's Curling team had a great third day earning two wins to stand at 3-2. In the morning draw the Panthers defeated Saint Mary's in extra ends with a steal of one for the 7-6 victory.

Huskies advance over Panthers in Men's Basketball

In the second game of Friday night's double-header at Centre 200, the No. 3 seeded Saint Mary's Huskies never trailed as they advanced to Saturday evenings semifinal with a 88-60 win over the UPEI Panthers.

Day 2 at the CIS Curling Championship

On Thursday the Men’s team earned a win and lost to sit at 1-2. The Panthers defeated Victoria 9-7 in their first win of the tournament. In their second draw of the day the Panthers lost a heart breaker to Western 7-6.

Women's Soccer make off field moves

The UPEI Women’s Soccer Panthers have been busy this off-season, adding to the coaching staff and bringing talented players into the program. “This is a very busy time for the program and the school," says Coach Michael Redmond, who is entering his seventh year with the program. "We want to attract excellent student athletes for the 2010 season and it has always been a priority to bring positive personnel into the coaching staff.”

UPEI Curlers at CIS Championship in Edmonton

Twenty six teams in total have gathered in Edmonton, Alberta to curl for the CIS title at the Saville Centre. The UPEI Panthers have both a men’s and women’s team out at the event.

Representing the Panthers for the men are skip Brett Gallant, third Adam Casey, second Anson Carmody and lead Alex MacFadyen along with coach, Tristan Chisholmrs. On the women’s side, skip Sarah Clow, third Christina Hennessey, second Whitney Young and lead Courtney Moore, and their coach Angela Hodgson.
