A goal midway through the first half was all the Dalhousie Tigers needed to defeat the UPEI Panthers 1-0 in the gold-medal game of the Atlantic University Field Hockey Championship Sunday in Charlottetown.

In UPEI's first game of the university field hockey championship round robin, the Panthers defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 2-0.

The young UPEI Panther Field Hockey Team had a very succesful weekend competing in their second tournament  held in Halifax.  The Panthers returned home with  3 wins, 1 tie and 1 loss and greatly improved offensively scoring eight goals, an  improvement of seven goals over the opening tournament held at UNB.

UPEI Field hockey Team ready for leaving early Saturday morning, Sept 25 for their first 2010 Maritime League Tournament in Fredericton, NB. This is the first of three round robin tournament for  the young Panther team as Lydia Ellis is the only 4th year player.

The Panthers went to McGill the last weekend in August for a three day tournament.  Here are the results:

All full time students attending UPEI who are interested in trying out for UPEI field hockey team are invited to attend practice on UPEI Turf Field.

The UPEI field hockey team is off to Montreal August 27 – 29 for an exhibition tournament at McGill University. The Panthers will play three games on Friday and again on Saturday, with the top two teams from the round robin facing off in the championship game on Sunday.

As a result of the recruiting efforts of current players, the UPEI women’s field hockey team has at least ten new faces for the upcoming season. Eight PEI high school graduates and two first-year university students from off-Island are making UPEI their field hockey home this fall.
