Wave Athletes of the week ending October 23, Gamble & Murphy

UPEI Swimmer Janet Gamble wins 3 gold and 1 silver and soccer player Jared Murphy scores winning goal.

Women's Athlete
UPEI and Olympian swimmer Janet Gamble is the Wave Female Athlete of the week for the week ending October 23, 2011.  After taking nine years off from competitive  swimming, Janet returned to the pool this past weekend at the Amby Legere AUS Invitational @ UNB and finished with 3 gold (50m & 100 m butterfly and 50 m backstroke) and 1 bronze (100 IM).  Gamble also broke 5 UPEI records over the course of the weekend.  Currently she is ranked top 5 for CIS rankings of 50 m freestyle and 50 backstroke.  A native of Saskatoon now living in PEI with her husband , Gamble is taking foods and nutrient at UPEI.  
Men's Athlete
The Wave Male Athlete of the Week for the second time this season is Jared Murphy of the men’s soccer team.  The Panthers  defeated Acadia on Sunday  2-0 and Murphy scored the winning goal with a great strike of the ball that scored just high of the Axemen goalie.  The win moved the Panthers into 4th and they clinched a playoff position. Jared  is a third year business student from Charlottetown, PE. The Panthers last home game is this Sunday when they host MtA at 1pm and 3:15 pm.
