UPEI Wave Athletes of the Week ending October 31, 2010 are hockey hat trick star Cory Vitarelli women’s soccer captain Sara Stewart.

 

Women's Athlete
Sara Stewart a fourth year  arts student from Charlottetown, PE is this week’s UPEI female athlete of the week for her game winning goal vs. UNB on Saturday afternoon.  The Panthers capped off an undefeated  season with the win and finished 10-0-3 with only one goal against. Stewart plays a key role in that record as midfield who controls the play with great skill and determination.   The Panthers now  earn a bye to the semi finals in this weekend’s Subway AUS Championship being held at Acadia. The Panthers already have a spot in the CIS Championship as they host November 11-14,2010. Men's Athlete
For the second weekend in a row, fifth year forward Cory Vitarelli  earned a hat trick in the Panthers 10-5 win over the Saint Thomas Tommies.   He currently sits tied for sixth in the AUS for points with eight total and the only player to date with two hat tricks this season.  Vitarelli is an arts student from Peterborough, Ontario who played with the St. Michaels Majors of the OHL before coming to UPEI.  The Panthers  return home this weekend to host StFX on Friday night and Saint Mary’s on Saturday night both at 7pm at MacLauchlan Arena.
