Tessa Roche from the women's soccer team and Timma Kalinowski, UPEI Men's Soccer keeper are this weeks Wave Athletes of the week for their efforts on the weekend.
Women's Athlete
Tessa Roche a fourth year striker from Charlottetown, PEI had a weekend to remember by scoring five goals and helping the UPEI Panthers to six points and a third place spot in the AUS standings. Friday night vs. Mount Allison, Roche got warmed up with a single goal late in game. Saturday night she put on a show by scoring all four of UPEI’s goals and each one was well executed with help from her teammates. Roche is a former AUS scoring leader from 2005, when she earned fifteen that year. The Panthers play a double header this weekend when they host CBU on Saturday at 3pm and UNB on Sunday at 1pm. The Panthers will be selling pink hats on Sunday to help raise funds for Run for the Cure.
Men's Athlete
Timma Kalinowski a third year keeper for the Panthers from Charlottetown, PEI is this weeks Wave Male Athlete of the Week ending September 27, 2009. The Panthers finished out a perfect weekend with a solid 2-0 win over the Acadia Axemen at the UPEI turf on Saturday evening following the honoring of former Panther great, Ryan Anstey by the official retirement of his #10 jersey. Kalinowski picked up his third consecutive clean sheet Saturday and his second of the weekend. The Panthers host CBU Saturday October 3 at 5:15pm and UNB on Sunday at 3:15 pm
