The Wave Athlete of the week - ending October 4, 2009

Soccer leaders, Chanelle Roy and Nathan Snowie named the Wave athletes of the Week.

Women's Athlete
Chanelle Roy a second year science student and goalie for the UPEI Soccer Panthers from Bathurst, New Brunswick is this weeks’ Wave Female Athlete of the week. Roy was the backbone for the Panthers between the posts on Saturday and Sunday when they earned a tie and win over CBU and UNB. This is her fifth clean sheet of the season. Saturday the Panthers faced the first place Capers and the game ended in a tie, but not without a few key saves from Roy. On Sunday the Panthers sold pink hats for Run the Cure and raised just over $1000 for Breast Cancer research. 
Men's Athlete
The Wave Male Athlete of the week goes to third year soccer Panther, Nathan Snowie.  He is from Stratford, PEI and is in his fourth year of Business and is a 2009 Academic All Canadian. Snowie has been a strong force defensively for the Panthers all season and this weekend was no different. The Panthers defense shut down UNB’s offensive by allowing only two good scoring chances.   The Panthers are now off until October 17 when they travel to the Rock to take on Memorial.
