UPEI men's hockey, basketball and soccer teams will be teaming up to
compete in a hockey and soccer game! Funds raised through ticket sales and
donations will go towards the Children's Wish Foundation (PEI Chapter) and
the Passion for Life award. The Passion for Life award was created to honor
Rene Ayangma, a member of the UPEI men's soccer team who passed away in
2008. The award is presented to a UPEI athlete who shows a true passion for
life and its people.
The first game will take place in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre at 6:00 pm with a
45-minute game of soccer. Fans will be able to crowd around the track and
watch the excitement as the teams battle it out indoors on the soccer
pitch!! The second game will switch over to the ice surface at 8:00 pm,
where we will get to see some athletes who have never skated in their LIFE
play a fast-paced hockey game! There will be referees, music, announcers,
media, and lots of prizes and laughs.
Make no mistake, these games will be competitive. The winner will be taking
home the first annual Battle of the Jocks Championship trophy!
