David has extensive teaching experience at two nationally-ranked Atlantic region universities, University of Prince Edward Island and Saint Thomas University. He has developed a number of UPEI courses offerings including a competency-based Aboriginal Peoples of Canada course and several Directed Studies courses aimed at teaching basic project management skills. He has multi-faceted experience in correctional operations and leading projects for Correctional Service Canada including national substance abuse research, program development for federally sentenced Aboriginal men, and self-harm desistance. His corrections work is widely published. David is well respected for his abilities to facilitate Indigenous processes that bring people together in reconciliation, healing and learning.
