UPEI Strategic Plan Pillar: Student Experience

Priority: Improve student learning and experiences by examining whatand how—we teach in support of UPEI’s vision of becoming a leader in experiential learning.

Priority: Provide better service to students to improve overall student experience.

To achieve this by 2018, we will:

  • Improve UPEI’s National Survey on Student Engagement (NSSE) scores related to Active and Collaborative Learning, Student-Faculty Interaction, and Supportive Campus Environment
  • Increase the percentage of UPEI students taking part in experiential and active learning activities
  • Increase the number of UPEI students taking part in global exchange opportunities
  • Develop a co-curricular transcript option for students to track and promote their leadership, community, and scholarly activities
  • Grow the overall value of scholarships, bursaries, prizes, and awards available to students

Some examples of initiatives that are now underway to support our Student Experience goals include:

  • the development of an Experiential Learning Inventory to more actively promote experiential and active learning opportunitiesat home and around the globefor our students
  • the introduction of a new scholarship structure that provides more students than ever before with access to funding support
  • the implementation of a Curriculum Planning Committee tasked with recommending a process for the development of a University Academic Plan which will indicate priorities in support of UPEI's academic vision
  • the creation of a One-Stop-Shop so students can access more services in one central location
